Keith W. Rigsbee
Keith was born in Durham, North Carolina and has lived in North Carolina all of his life. He attended Wake Forest University for both his undergraduate and law degrees. He received his B.A. in Politics from Wake Forest in 1987, and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest School of Law in 1990. Keith was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity while in undergraduate at Wake Forest. Keith spent a semester at American University during his junior year of college (1986) studying in a specialized program focusing on foreign policy.
Keith has practiced law continuously in North Carolina since passing the bar in 1990. Keith practiced with Mitchell, Blackwell, & Mitchell, P.A. (later Mitchell, Blackwell, Mitchell & Rigsbee, P.A.) from August of 1990 through the end of 2001. While practicing at that firm, Keith became a partner.
Keith was a solo practitioner following his time with the Mitchell firm. Keith opened the Law Office of Keith W. Rigsbee, PLLC in January of 2002 and continued his solo practice through May of 2007, until joining the Starnes Aycock Law Firm in June of 2007.
Since becoming a member of Starnes Aycock Law Firm, Keith has continued his practice in many of the same areas in which he has been practicing since 1990. Keith has many years of experience as a general practitioner. However, he has focused much of his practice in the areas of: family law, criminal defense, traffic matters, juvenile court matters, civil litigation in many areas, personal injury, estate planning, probate, drafting of contracts and other legal documents, and corporations and business matters.
Keith has been a member of the North Carolina Bar since 1990, and he is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Burke County Bar Association (Past President). He has been a past member of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice before the Western District of North Carolina for Federal Court.
Keith is an experienced litigator with many years of experience with representing clients in cases which involve trials and court hearings of all kinds. He spends much of his time in Courtrooms all across the Western part of North Carolina. Keith has appeared in Courts for clients in the following Counties throughout his legal career: Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, McDowell, Lincoln, Alexander, Iredell, Cleveland, Rutherford, Avery, Watauga, Mitchell, Yancey, Wilkes, Buncombe, Henderson, Gaston and Mecklenburg.
In the community, Keith has been active on many boards and committees. He has been a member on the Human Rights Committee at Broughton Hospital. He was the attorney chairperson for the 1998 United Way Campaign Cabinet in Burke County. He was on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Burke County for many years. He has been a member of the Deacon Board at the First Baptist Church of Morganton. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for his church, and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Preschool/Afterschool program at the First Baptist Church. Keith is also extremely active with volunteering his time as a coach of several soccer and basketball teams through the years.
